Where I am from

I am from running
from sore legs to burning lungs
I am from pushing myself
farther than I believe I can go

I am from cold early morning workouts,
seeing my breath, frost forming in my hair
I am from the burning hot days,
when running feels like swimming,
drenched in sweat that drips off of me
and the longer I ran the faster it goes

I am from the group runs
and workouts on the track
I am from legs pounding on the ground
mile after mile
I am from racing and competitive spirit,
which pushes me to do my best to win

I am from those times
when I pass people in the final stretch,
which was one of the best feelings there is,
and the defeat after losing to a team or personal rival

I am from when running was a joke in middle school
to when it's higly competitive in high school
I am from the chubby kid that started running in 7th grade

  1. Good, especially some of the lines likef rost forming in your hair and the vivid imagery. Don't feel like you have to add in the lines at the end about middle school; they could be removed or worked in elsewhere, but as they stand it leaves the poem without a real ending. Other than that, great!
