Dark visions. The reviewer of the watchmen movie strongly disliked the film. He thought the movie was very lengthy and dragged on for far to long. He thought there were far too many chacarters which made it impossible to focus on one main story line. He felt that the films attempt at political satire was poor and left a lot to be desired. Poem analysis
Collins is describing growing up in the poem, he is showing that growing up is a horrible thing for a kid because they lose their youthfulness and the imagination that makes childhood a great thing. Growing up makes you lose the views of the world that make it a wonderful and amazing thing, and you start to see the things that are wrong with the world shown by him saying "If you cut me I could shine.
But now when I fall upon the sidewalks of life, I skin my knees. I bleed". Collins captures childhood in the way of what the child pretended to be each year being different things and just having fun. The effectiveness of the poem comes from how relateable the childhood is to many of our own. This childhood fits many children that I grew up with it fits mine as well.

Definition questions
1) The fresh idea in the essay is the generosity and not being beholden to people.
2)I would have defined it as a baseball team and the pinnacale of the MLB
3)Similar ideas could be americans or patriots.
4)The allusions did add to the definition because I understood the allusions. If you didn't understand the allusions then it wouldn't help the story.
5) the essay use similies, examples, and stories to help develop the essay.
6) The writer spend a good amount of time on the dictionary definition before moving on to the bigger definition.
7) The thesis sentence was To most of the world, a Yankee is an American

Eating kids response
1 Tghe thesis is that lower class people should be treated better so they don't have to resort to extreme measures. I believe that is the only one.

There is likewise another great advantage in my scheme, that it will prevent those voluntary abortions, and that horrid practice of women murdering their bastard children, alas! too frequent among us! sacrificing the poor innocent babes I doubt more to avoid the expense than the shame, which would move tears and pity in the most savage and inhuman breast.
The number of souls in this kingdom being usually reckoned one million and a half, of these I calculate there may be about two hundred thousand couple whose wives are breeders; from which number I subtract thirty thousand couples who are able to maintain their own children, although I apprehend there cannot be so many, under the present distresses of the kingdom; but this being granted, there will remain an hundred and seventy thousand breeders. I again subtract fifty thousand for those women who miscarry, or whose children die by accident or disease within the year. There only remains one hundred and twenty thousand children of poor parents annually born. The question therefore is, how this number shall be reared and provided for, which, as I have already said, under the present situation of affairs, is utterly impossible by all the methods hitherto proposed.
3 The reader relizes it is ironic after the proposal after it is made in paragraph 10.
4 The targets of this are the rich people and the victiums are the poor farmers and beggars.
5 The writing was mearly satirical and swift never presented a serious proposal.
6 The last paragraph was to show that swift didn't actually want this to happen and to show his writing was only meant to be ironic.
7 He also tells about the state of women's jobs. I haven't had any labor jobs so I couldn't resist the employer.
8 If I had to market babies I think it could be done. You would have to call the baby something in a different language so people don't realize it is human. Then you would have to make the baby meat not have the shape of a person then you could sell it.

response to wives
1 The thesis was implied and I believe it is that the wives are expected to do a lot and get nothing out of it.
2 The repetitions create a stronger point for her.
3 She doesn't want a wife like that and the ideal wife she describes doesn't actually exsist.
4 She defines a wife by describing the life of one but exagerated. She organizes the services from less common activities to more common in years past. Her characterization of a wife is long winded but it shows what people want but that it is immpossible for a wife to do that. She wants her readers to relize that this woman doesn't exsist a wife may have some of these characteristics but not all, and they should give wives more credit then they get.
5 I want a wife was a some what eye opening read for me because it let me see all the things that wives have expected of them and what they try to do. To be a wife is a hard task to handle proved by your writing. It was a very pressuasive read for me and changed my thoughts on wives. The way that women are thought to do all of the things expected is not what it should be it should be that the women and the men share these duties. This is an ever changing soceity so men need to expect less and help more.

james thurber
The little girl and the wolf was one of my favorites because it had a unexpected ending and the wolf got shot. It surprised me that the little girl had an automatic. Thurber used little red riding hood as a basis and made fun of it.
The bear was another favorite because when he changed what happened didn't change. It surprised me that a bear got drunk. Thurber is making fun of the people who turn their lifes around but the same things keep happening even though they are different. There was no basis story.
